It’s 1986 America. Movies doing the rounds are “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” (movie vehicle for Whoopi Goldberg, “An American Tail” and Alex Cox’s bio of “Sid And Nancy”. The Centennial celebrations of the Statue of Liberty are underway in New York, and Mike Tyson beats Trevor Berbick in his first professional World Title win.

Music wise here, we have Steve Winwood, The Pretenders, The Bangles and some Cameo on the way. The fight for the top is with Madonna, Bon Jovi, Boston and Human League. More great songs of the era “True Colors”, “Hip To Be Square” and “Shake You Down” do you remember who sang them? Enjoy!

Queen are an iconic rock band that made an array of hit songs and albums through the ‘70s and ‘80s. Their zestful singer credited as the greatest showman in the business. Freddie, Brian, Roger and John recreated themselves with great ease and never failed to bring a memorable sound.

Here in two parts we take you through the legacy that one Mr Mercury left behind. The good times, the bad times, and more importantly the music. Hit after Hit “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Save Me”, “Innuendo”, “Radio Ga Ga”, “We Are The Champions” and so on and on. Many of the best of Queen to remember them by and (some would say) maybe one or two of their not so fondly remembered tracks, that are now as important as the best. This is part two of Queen – Through The Music. Enjoy!

The world was an arduous place in 1987. Terry Waite, the envoy, becomes a kidnap victim in West Asia until 1991. There were many woes around the world, the sinking of the ferry MS Herald of Free Enterprise, the Hungerford massacre, the "Great Storm", the Remembrance Day Bombing in Northern Ireland and the King's Cross fire. Haven’t we rather heard of these types of things every few years since? Margaret Thatcher became the longest serving British Prime Minister since Lord Liverpool in the early 19th century after securing a third term in office. The world is not moving on people. Anyhoo!

There was a good bit of drive last week. Lil Nas X shot up from the bottom of the forty to near the top. Has he gone that last furlong? Lewis is waiting for his eighth week at the top. Billie Eilish might not be done yet, as “Bad Guy” is still inline to be a possible number 1.

He had music for all, from the teen fun times, to the adult indigo mood. His music means so much to old and young. His memory never lost.

He is a cultural icon who transcended time with a musical legacy that was fun, often lacking in emotional content, but then could come back and knock you into touch with those emotions on “One More Try”, “Father Figure”, “A Different Corner” and "Jesus To A Child". He had his controversies that were media hounded, but at the back of it all was a humanitarian who was a giver and great philanthropist. As Andrew Ridgeley is about to embark on his 80s Playlist show on BBC Radio 2 next month, let’s go Through The Music of George and Wham! Enjoy!
