This week we visit September 1981, when Adam Ant was the hottest property about, The Stones could still pull off a top 10 hit and the decade of novelty hits like The Tweets and the hit mixes like Enigma, Stars on 45 and The Hollies with their revival hit mix.

Hits a-plenty from Soft Cell, ELO, Ultravox, Hi-Gloss, Linx, Genesis, Human League and more, album new entries from Shaky and Ultravox and a number one classic album there. All the Top 20 hits and some from the bottom half, plus a triple play from the albums makes it a very good year.

I am taking you back 33 years, yes that’s how old you are, to 1984. Style Council, Howard Jones, The Smiths. Some lost in the wilderness bands like Break Machine or Bronski Beat yes the eighties were cheesier than a double whopper with extra cheese, and that’s a lot of cheese, not really good for you know, you really gotta cut that shit out and eat some more healthy shit.

Anyway, the music Wham! Check, Duran Duran, Check, Status Quo Check, Gene Vincent Check, … wait a minute… Gene Vincent? Ohhhh he’s in the album chart section, check, a bit of Pointer Sisters, Sister Sledge, Madness, OMD, Phil Collins and Bob Marley. Download it live it.. breathe it… beeee it.

Way back in time we go to February 1982. When peeps like Barry Manilow, Sheena Easton And Olivia Newton John was taking up chart positions. Now those days are gone. I suppose we should be thankful for that at least. But Olivia’s “Physical” was a cracker and features in this chart. Expect some Hall & Oates, Kenny Rogers, Stevie Wonder, Quarterflash, Joan Jett + Diana Ross.

I will take a look at the top Pop Albums of the time, playing the entire top 20 singles, along with a few from the bottom of the chart. The fight for number one was on J Giels Band held off all competition but can they do it in this particular week or are Hall + Oates, Quarterflash or Journey going to end their run. Lots of great eighties classics in here. “Leader Of The Band”, “Chariots Of Fire”, “Abacab”, “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” and “Centerfold”. Lots more to add to the bargain. Get it now!
